Mägenwil, 23 April 2024 – The Competec Group (1300 employees, annual sales for 2023: 1.14 billion Swiss francs) is looking for a new Chief Information Officer: Marcel Rassinger has decided to set up his own business and leave the company. However, he will continue to help the retail group in an advisory capacity after his departure. Competec is turning his departure into an opportunity to redefine the IT division and the CIO’s role.
Marcel Rassinger, CIO and member of the Competec Board of Directors, has decided to leave the company at the end of August. Marcel Rassinger has explained that he would like to start a new chapter in his life and establish his own company to gain a foothold in AI/technology consulting. “We deeply regret having to let go of such an accomplished and committed manager. I would like to thank Marcel Rassinger for his fantastic collaboration over the past nine years, which have been both intense and thrilling. We wish him all the best for the future,” says Roland Brack, owner and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Group.
Following the announcement of this departure, Competec is adapting its IT organisation and redefining the role of CIO. Marcel Rassinger initiated this process himself and will continue to support the company as CIO until his departure in August. After this, he will remain available to advise on AI and technology issues. In future, core IT functions such as software engineering, IT infrastructure and IT security will be part of the CIO’s remit.
Initially outsourced, the retail group has had its own in-house IT department since 2008. Marcel Rassinger has been Chief Information Officer and a member of the Competec Group’s Board of Directors since February 2015. Today, around 120 people work in the IT department, which provides data, tools and infrastructure, develops applications and operates Competec’s online stores.
